Like an idiot, I bought a 3070 ti without looking at the requirements and whether my system will meet them.

Its a Gigabyte Aorus master 3070ti I'm looking to install in an Aorus 390 elite motherboard, i7 9700k, 750w gold corsair modular PSU, and a fractal design define r6 case with 4 hard drives spaced in the tall enclosure, and a 1tb M2 drive in the slot above the graphics card - that's overheating (55c) with my old gtx1070.

The graphics card has 3 pcie power inputs - 2 x 8 pin, and 1x6 pin I'm assuming I need them all?

In which case, I'm not convinced I've got a single modular cable that has 3 outputs. Do they exist? Or am I supposed to use 2 cables?

All a bit of a moot point though if a 750w PSU isn't going to do the trick! Will it? Or do I need to upgrade??

And anyone for this card and this case, and managed to make it fit with the full height drive enclosure? Or do I need to bite the bullet and remove it?

Thanks!

You have to use multiple cables. Using a daisy chained cable is not a good idea, on such a high wattage card. Gigabyte is recommending an 850w, for this card. Also it is 2x8 pin and a 1x6 pin, for the cables.

Yeh sorry meant 2 x 8 and 1 x 6, not sure why I typed 4 and 3! 😂

OK, I guess new PSU time, which means having to completely reconfigure the case anyway. Argh! Was hoping it was just going to plug and play! 😭

OK, well got a 1000w modular corsair platinum arriving tomorrow. Can swap the 750w into my second (old) pc to power the gtx 1070 that's been transferred in there too.

Which only leaves the question - has anyone put this 3070 ti into the define R6 case without taking out the full height drive bay??
