[SOLVED] 3070 vision temps way too hot recently

Hello,

I have 3070 vision for nearly a year and last few months the temps are crazy and I have no idea what is causing this. Idle is perfectly normal. I have around 40C. But when I stress test it gets to 85 degress which sounds ok but the HotSpot in HWMonitor shows 107C. That is what I am woried about and in some games (Borderlands 3) I get a lot of stutter on longer sessions.

Should I be worried?

replacing the Thermal paste may solve the problem.. and even with 85C is a bit high.. test it with Furmark program and tell us what temp you got.

This is result of 2k benchmark: FurMark Scores (gpuscore.top)

After running furmark for 10mins it settled on 82C GPU and 101 Hotspot.

So little bit bellow the Borderlands 3 fiesta. I thought about undervolting it but I never done it, or as you said paste. But on the gigabyte website it says that the paste should last 5+ years so I thought it would be unlikely for it to wear down so quickly.

Ok i tried undervolting based on some youtube video and my card didn't die so i guess it is good U change the voltage curve as they did in the video to this.

Seems to lowered my temps by almost 10C and performence is same. But isn't it risky in any way? Like would choking my GPUs voltage kill it in some way?

Undervolting doesn't affect you GPU neither CPU....In other way Overvolting does affect if you did it high much
In your problem here Undervolting may solve you issue .. but in other way RTX 3070 temp must be around 35-40C in Idle and around 75-80C max in high load .. and yes thermal paste can make issues after only 1 year of use.. It depends on the usage of the GPU... if you wish to replace your thermal paste I recommend you to go for a good type of it.

and also use MSI afterburner for better results for your temps.

I Used afterburner for the undervolting. Do you mean for temp measurement or something else?

And right now i have 40 C idle and 75 on load so yeah undervolting worked. I'll think about the paste. Could you recomend some?

I mean to use it for measure the temp, and the temps at the moment is good 40C and 75C isn't bad
I recommend you the (ARCTIC MX-4) as a thermal paste, you can find it on amazon for $9.00

Sadly there isn't amazon in my country.

But my local reseller has that, so i'll buy it with my next salary.

I noticed that the font case fans are very close to the end of the graphics card and there is not much opportunity for it to get air from the front fans. Try opening the side of your case and see how much the temps improve in furmark for 10 minutes again. I suspect it will be large. Like another 10c or so. This means that your specific case isn't the greatest for long cards like that. Since the end of the graphics card is so close to the front fans and low even compared to the the lower fan it must create a lot of turbulence in the air.

I was thinking that the fan turbulence may be causing some recirculation of air in the GPU fans along with how only 1/2 to 1/3 of the bottom fan is feeding up to three GPU fans. I think the recirculation can be caused because the fan on the GPU closest is a passthrough to the CPU area. I am not sure though. Something like this.
