Question 3080 Suddenly Overheating

Build is ~1 month old

Yesterday I updated to the new Nvidia drivers and ever since my 3080 is pushing 80c (target is set to 80) and only delivering 80-100FPS in titles like OW, titles it usually maxes out with out breaking the mid 60s.

• Can a new nvidia driver cause this or is something else going on?
  • Nothing has been overclocked.

GPU idles at 27-35C, second I open a game it's maxed out at 80c and can't even break 100ish FPS in several low demand titles. CPU doesn't even break 55c while the GPU is struggling @80c.

Things I've tried since post:

1. Reinstalled OW
2. Went in to BIOS, found out the RAM was running at 2133 instead of 3600, so I corrected that. I'm assuming it changed when I updated BIOS.
3. Redid GPU drivers

So something above seems to have worked, I'm back at Epic settings 165FPS @69-73C.

Any number of things could have caused your GPU to run a bit hotter and I'm not sure what it was. I could see a bad driver or bad driver installation causing worse performance though.
