Question 3080ti Gpu dead? Killed my motherboard with it?

I was in the middle of gaming when my computer suddenly lost all power, no error code or bluescreen just instantly black. When I tried the power on button again it would not start at all. My first thought was that my 1k watt psu had died, but after removing the rtx 3080ti entirely from the pcie slot, the pc booted normally. Everytime I properly connected the gpu to the pcie slot and connected the cables, the pc wouldnt power on at all.

My next test was to check if the gpu was defect. I connected the gpu(3080ti) to my older Second pc that works normally with a 750watt psu and had the same problem there, the computer wouldnt power on with 3080ti connected. I thought to myself that this confirms the gpu is defect, but it didnt end there.

I wanted to do some more tests on the main pc even though In my head I basically confirmed gpu was defect. I wanted to test the motherboard so I connected my old working gpu(gtx 1080) to my main pc and the pc booted as expected, but to my suprise the gpu was not being detected by the pc. I tried all the pcie slots on the mobo but the gpu wouldnt be detected. The lights on the gpu where the power cable connects are glowing.

The pc works normally with the Integrated Graphics Gpu.
I Have cleared cmos and it did not change anything.

This lead me to my theory that my 3080ti died and killed the pcie slot at the same time. But then it had to kill all 3 pcie slots somehow, since none of them detect my old gpu that works. I am kinda stuck not knowing if my gpu is defect, if my motherboard is defect, both, or some other part. I would appreciate if someone that knows more than me can pinpoint the issue with the info I provided. Or help me with other ways to test each part individually.

Reason why I think my 3080ti is dead:
Tested in 2 pcs and none of them power on with it connected.

Reason why I think my 3080ti killed the motherboard with it:
The pc wont detect my old working gpu(1080) when connected to any of the pcie slots. The pc powers on but wont detect the card.

PC Bought 1 year ago.

Did you at least try uninstall/reinstalling the drivers for the other card?

I think's its safe to say you're right on the newer card being dead. Especially since it's triggering a no-post in two different machines. It could have potentially fried the PCI-E slot but it's not often that happens.

I cant install any drivers since it says the card isnt detected, nothing found in device manager. No fans spinning on gpu, but rbg lights glowing on it.

When I first tried booting the pc with the test gpu(gtx1080) connected, It powered on fine but I had no picture at all, tested both hdmi and displayport cables. I had to remove the 1080 completely from PCI-E port, go into bios and set my "Initiate Graphics Adaptor" to IGD instead of PEG to even get a picture while the gtx1080 is connected at the same time.

Maybe the power supply died. And, yes a blown supply can take everything out. PS is the heart of the PC. Always invest in quality and correct power rating.

The psu powers the pc normally without the 3080ti connected to the pcie port. Only when I connect 3080ti the pc wont even power on.

The following is just a guess:
3080Ti popped, but because this model doesn't have a fuse on board, the motherboard also took a hit.
The motherboard isn't dead, but has sustained damage... but since you can't use it for what you want, it may as well be dead?
Slap a Celeron/Pentium in it and use it for light tasks only?

Yeah this makes sense. I read around and it seems to be very unlikely pcie ports get fried when a gpu dies. But I guess im just very unlucky in this case.

Update: Tested an ethernet card in the top pcie slot and it works. No gpu is detected in the slot. What is going on.

are you using same power cables for both GPUs?
possible this cable port on the PSU was damaged when the GPU blew and now cannot provide power.
You might be right, I swapped to an old 650watt psu with all the cables belonging to that, and the gpu(1080) is now detected by the main pc and working fully. So yea the 3080ti gpu blew and killed the psu ports on my main 1k watt psu .

that sucks.

modular cables should be pretty easy to replace but if the port itself is dead you still may be able to RMA the entire unit.
should have close to a 10 year warranty?
I found replacement cables in the psu box and it works now! Youre right again, the old cables that were attached to the 3080ti when it blew were the issue. Thanks!
