Greetings everyone. I hope you are having a good time.
Two years ago I built a system with gtx 1080 with an i5 11400f. Unfortunately it has started to show its age recently. I mostly play DayZ and in some servers, my frames started to drop below 70 and it hurts to see on a 144hz 1080p screen.
I'm planning on upgrading to 3080ti. Did some research on it, watched some benchmarks and I'm pretty set on it. I know that I can be CPU limited in some cases but in general it does amazingly better than my 1080. I don't plan to upgrade anything lesser since I rarely have money to spend on my PC and I want it to carry me through on 1080p 144 FPS for years to come. As I said, I mostly play DayZ, with a side of Read Dead 2 and other single player games to pass time and pause if needed like if my kid or wife needs me urgently.
Now, I have two questions:
First, What is your input about my mindset about upgrading? Am I being dense by locking myself on a 3080ti? What would you do differently or anything at all?
Second, the PSU I bought with my system is, after a long research, seems to be straight up garbage. Unfortunately I didn't know the importance of a good quality PSU at the time of building. Some people say it's fine, but some say it's a fire hazard. I don't want to risk it actually but at the same time, good quality PSUs can sometimes cost arm and leg but I also know that PSU is not something you want to cheap on. It's a Thermaltake litepower 650W. Do I need to change it to something like a corsair rm750 maybe?
Thank you all in advance and sorry if this is a long post but I wanted to include as much info as possible, looking forward to your inputs!
