I just got a Asus ROG Strix 3090 OC 24GB from Newegg as a manufacturer refurbished. It just showed up and works fine...looks new even. Has all the OEM plastic peel-off protection on it.
The serial number sticker w/the model number shows the exact model (3090) I ordered and it looks correct.
In GPU-Z and everywhere else from within Win 11 it shows up as a 3080 w/10GB????

Anyone have any ideas?

Hey there.

GPU-z up to date? Other system drivers, including GPU up to date too?

Please list the rest of your specs. What bios are you running?

I'm not sure how Newegg works. Is that sellers, like Ebay? If from private seller, I guess it could potentially be a vbios issue.

Is it still under warranty. Worth Giving ASUS a call?

All the latest drivers and versions of everything...I just built this peecee from scratch and loaded it all fresh although I did have GTX 970 in it temporarily but I did a clean install of the driver when I put this card in.
GPU-Z is showing a device ID that matches this:
Asus RTX 3080 10 GB BIOS (STRIX OC LHR)
0x10DE 0x2216

The BIOS GPU-Z is reporting is: 94.02.71.40.9A.

The memory speeds being reported match the above card...I'm doomed.

Despite my supreme disappointment I do appreciate the replies.
The vendor through Newegg had a couple of questions and asked for some pics. The guy I interacted with seemed to be aware of specifics and said they were going to complain to Asus as this one was part of some batch of refirbs they bought. Sent me a RMA right away so I guess I can't blame them too much...Since it a holiday, no sense in sending it till Friday at the earliest. Give me some time to at least taste what I'm missing going from a pair of SLIed 970's.

Newegg is not as bad as most people say I have never had a problem with them, just don't buy from their site when it's not sold and shipped by Newegg NO 3rd party sellers.

EDIT you make a couple of mistakes because of laze workers that just wont their check and happen to be for a large person on youtube and everybody thinks that Newegg is a garbage company and it's just not right!!!!!

Asus is a much worse company than Newegg!

Not to feed a fed horse here...but is it at all possible that the wrong bios was loaded on this board? I mean, would it work with the incorrect bios and report memory etc... based on that?
