I have Windows 10 Home 64 bit. I just want to make sure my Java is also 64 bit. Is there anyway to do this? Thanks!

Oh yes... the great game turned to absolute garbage by what is a lazy developer that only wanted to make one version... Minecraft itself only needs 32bit, but either java install should work. Both are available at the oracle website for java. Just make sure you disable all the crap it adds in addition to java, and make sure you update it every day (more or less)
Easy way, don't get java. No, seriously, unless you absolutely must have it don't get it! Java by itself has several time more critical flaws than Windows, IE, Office, and all other MS products combined.

Other than that, just download the appropriate version from the oracle website.

I play Minecraft with mods and I was told I needed Java to run the shader mods. But thank you for the help!

I actually ended up figuring out that Minecraft no longer requires you to have Java installed on your computer. Instead of requiring users to install Java on their machines, Minecraft is now bundling a standalone version of Java into their installation and it doesn’t have the security problems and annoyances that regular Java does.
