Always when I re-install windows, a came up with x86 & x64 choice. I as usual select the 32 bit because I have only 2 GB DDR2 RAM. But is there any problem if I select the 64 ? will it consume more RAM ? Which is best for me???

These are my basic specs:

Intel Pentium E5200 @ 2Ghz
2 gb DDR2 RAM (Due to slot limits, expandable only upto 4gb)

So anyone ???
Will there be any hardware or software problem if I change to 64 with the 2 gb ram?????? Tnx !!

Solution
There are potential compatibility issues with x64 and older software. So the answer is maybe.

One known issue is that X64 windows doesn't support windows 16 bit applications. A lot of software around the turn of the century used 16 bit installers, which was obviously a problem later.

Because of these and other potential issues, I usually recommend 32 bit OS with 4gb or less of ram. More than 4 GB, go with x64.

True, there will be upcoming games that require 64 bit windows. If your interested in one of those games, that would be a consideration as well. But I doubt those would run with 2 GB anyways. So it really doesn't apply to this particular machine.
