32-bit Vista to 32/64-bit W8.1

Hello!

I have been running windows vista 32-bit on my laptop for 5 years now. Today I installed windows 8.1 pro. I installed the 32-bit version as my vista setup as been 32-bit as well. However, under "system", It says 32-bit OS, 64-bit based processor. Does this mean my computer isable to run 64bit?

So any modern CPU (for the last decade) can run 64 bit OS. However, did you reformat the HDD or just upgrade?

I wiped the hdd and made a fresh install.

Yes, you installed the 32bit OS
And yes, your system is capable of running a 64bit OS.

If you want the 64bit OS, you have to do a whole reinstall.

Guess I'll be doing a fresh install then, as 64-bit is the superior option.
