Hi. I'm looking to upgrade from my old 19inch 1440x900 monitor that's using a VGA to dvi converter to my GTX 960 2GB. I want to get a display with displayport or HDMI. Can be either a TV or monitor. I'm thinking of a couch setup for gaming and movies.

Trying to decide between a LG 25 inch ultra wide monitor (2560x1080) with 2 HDMI ports

or

a LG 32 inch monitor (1920x1080) with 1 displayport and 1 HDMI port.

I heard not much games support 2560x1080 and based on a steam stats, most players have 1920x1080 monitors.

But ultra wide removes the black lines in movies so idk...

Please help me decide or suggest an alternative TV or monitor. Thanks.

for a couch setup the 32 inch 1080p monitor would be very nice, but for a desktop where you would be sitting no more than 30 inches away its too big for its resolution. flipside the 25 inch 1080p ultra wide is a little small for desktop unless you are sitting absurdly close to the monitor. there are 29 inch 2560x1080 monitors that are much better options if you are going to be sitting at a desk. but it seems you want couch surfing so im not very sure 29 inches is enough.

i have no issues with ultrawide compatibility, but that may just be the games i am playing.

if you are willing to spend more i think a 34 inch 2560x1080 would be the best of both worlds if you want size for sitting back on a couch but also want 2:40/2:35 anamorphic...

but 29 inch 2560x1080 would be more affordable and ive seen them at around $200. I would avoid the 25 inch as it seems to be too small for your needs. i would avoid hdtvs as they are not setup correctly for computers and if they are they are going to be expensive.
