32 inch TV loses signal from computer for 2-3 secs

When doing anything, even idling at the desktop, my tv (connected by hdmi) loses signal from my PC for a few seconds. Why would this be happening?

Ok what kind of tv is it old or new have you tried a different hdmi cable it could be at fault is the cable secure plug in all the way do you have a vid card or IGP?
