I just put a AMD Barton 3200+ (stock heatsink) into my A7N8x Deluxe (resivion 1), replacing a an AMD Thunderbird 1.4ghz (266) CPU. The PC keeps having problems ever since. I'll be up and running then when I run a few quick time movies the PC freezes up and eventually its reboots on its own. The movies begin to get choppy like a slow 56K connection trying to few streaming video. When we I try to bring the system back up my monitor doesn't respond. I have to remove my motherboard's battery so my bios can reset so my graphics card can respond. Also my Graphics card's (ATI Radeon 9600xt) VPU keeps crashing since I changed the CPU also.

I've checked the heatsink and its installed properly. Could it be a power supply problem? I'm running the following:

AMD Barton 3200+
Asus A7N8X Deluxe
1GB (2x512) 3200XL XMS Memory
80GB HD 7200rpm
200GB HB 7200rpm
ATI Radeon 9600xt (using DVI)
USB Logitech MX1000 Wireless Mouse/Keyboard combo
USB HP Scanner
Dell LCD with 4 port USB hub
1 Apple 20GB iPOD
56K modem

A7n8x revision 1 was not really well compatible with 400DDR FSB cpu, like the one you have right now. So it might be causing your problem. Check Asus site for latest BIOS that may support your CPU. To make sure, set the FSB at 166(333) and try it. If it run better underclocked, than that could be your problem.

Lastest Bios 1008. Turns out there is a compatibility issue as the other guy stated below. I going to call asus and see what they can do.

Supposedy the Rev.1 boards will not run the 200 FSB stable. I have seen a few people get the 200 FSB stable, but maybe they added active cooling to the Northbridge or used a vmod. From what I've read, the Northbridge is undervoltage causing the instability issues. If you don't want a new board, you can try overclocking that 3200+. Start at 166 FSB and raise the multiplier from 11 to 13. This will make the 3200+ basically a 3000+. The 3200+ runs at (200*11=2200 Mhz) while the 3000+ runs at (166*13=2160 Mhz). If it runs stable, you can keep raising the FSB and lowering the mulitplier. You should be able to get around 190 FSB stable.

Oh, didn't saw you said Rev1. Yeh as endyen said the rev1 isn't compatible with 200Mhz FSB version of AthlonXP because it uses the older nForce2 chip which supports to a max of 166Mhz FSB only.

Wusy, quit using drugs now.. You misread the guy's post and endyen hasent even posted here... I did. You are definitively not quite there..
