3440x1440 100hz monitor gpu upgrade

i got a i7 4770k at 4.4 ghz with gtx 660 sli but once i bought a 3440x1440 100 hz monitor its not even keeping up i want to upgrade to a 1080 or a 1080ti i want to be able to run atleast 100 fps on ultra in all games with this monitor who has one and can speak first hand and is it worth just getting a gtx 1070ti and getting another one down the road i have a feeling sli aint worth a darn no more like it used to since most games dont really support it any more just looking for suggestions
funny part is my gtx 1050 laptop does better at that res then my desktop but at 1080p my desktop has 0 issues

The 1080ti is your best bet but even then you won't maintain 100 fps in some games with ultra settings. I agree multi gpu support is not that great anymore, single fastest card gives more consistent results.
