now i've overclocked my 3500+ on my AsRock 939Dual-SATA2
i've OC'ed from 2.2 to 2.4 (approx) the FSB is currently set at 224/112 PCI-E sync. when i do so and check using CPU-Z it says that it is running at around 1.1. now i think that this is due to the Quiet and cool, which automaticly changes the multiplier to 5X. now when i run Prime95 it brings the multiplier back up to 11X and 2.4. after about 40.min it will fail. now my question is when its running at 5X or 9X, will it be unstable? it seems to be stable at 223/111 running prime95 for around 12 hours.
also, what would the limit for the FSB be?
Ram type is 2 sticks of 256 PC3200
and 1 stick of 512 PC3200
all of crucial value select range

So, can you not turn off Cool and Quiet? Disabling it would probably be your best bet. I am no expert on ASRock FSB ceilings, but I'm gonna guess around 290 MHz if that.

[edit]Okay a little Google fairy told me that later BIOS revisions (1.2 and on) limit the FSB to around 274 MHz. Apparently this can be modded to allow 300+ MHz, but I'll let you look into that.[/edit]

yea i can turn off quiet an cool, but just wondering if its better to set the multiplier lower and have have a higher FSB or keep the multi at 11 and a lower FSB.

It's "Cool and Quite" and when its turned on certain options in the bios disappear!!!

If you are going to OC the turn it off in bios.

OC'ers want more power not less.

you dont need to turn q´n quit off in the bios.

Just go to energy options and there use "Presentation" if you don´t want it to clock your cpu down.

I agree with Lazygarfield turn off in the OS - The bios will still blank a few options. Only turn off in bios if you are never going to use it again.

but does anyone know how high in mhz you can go with corsar value select?
i mean an approx. value.
i can normally go to about 223 before it gives me unstablility. and i want to know if I should change the multiplier to 10X or 9X rather then 11X and try to achieve a higher core speed. i sometimes like the cool an quiet as it will allow me to clock the CPU higher and since i leave it on all the time not make as much noise since it's not running at full compacity.
