I only get about 350kb/s at best download speed, but I have a 4mb line speed. I'm using a TP link powerline adapter to connect through wall sockets from my router. Should I not have a much faster speed? My friend who lives in the same area as me has a 10mb line speed and gets about 8mb/s which is quite good, he has a wired connection. My router is about 5 years old so I thought that that might be the problem. Does anybody know the reason for this happening?

Download speeds are listed in bytes. Speedtest is in bits (megabits). So your 4Mbit service has AT BEST 1/2Mbyte (500Kbyte) speed. Your 350Kbyte isn't too bad.

The 1.2Mbit on Speedtest is low for a 4Mbit service. It may be worth a call to your ISP to have them check their side.

If you get 350kB (bytes) then you are getting a reasonable speed. Most dowload dialog boxes are in bytes but your internet speed is megabits. 4 megabits divided by 8 = 1/2 megabit take away file transfer overhead and 350KB would be reasonable.
