Hello everyone. I have recently overclocked my i5 3570k to gain a little bit more performance. To go with this, I purchased a Thermaltake Water 2.0 Extreme (on sale for 70$) to help keep it cool.

I have replaced the stock thermal compound with Arctic Cooling MX-4.

I have set the core multiplyer to 42, and kept everything else stock. Voltage is stock.

When running prime95 (large fft), I notice that my temps reach around 68-72C. This is after about 3 hours of letting prime run. I am using CPUID hardware monitor for temps.

Do the temps seem high or am I doing ok?

Thanks

Looks good to me, try hitting 4.5ghz and let us know what temps you get.

You might have to raise the voltage a little bit- but NEVER go over 1.3v, thats my recommendation.

Good luck!

Looks good, you should be good to try hitting 4.5ghz.

What do you get on idle?

Seems a little toasty for stock voltage and a mild overclock, especially on water. Are you using a CPU temperature monitoring program like CPUID that shows each individual core temp? There can be large temperature variations between the cores, indicated a seating problem that would require lapping to get the optimal cooling contact. For comparison, I'm running a 2500k at 4.8GHz on air at 1.39v and don't get anywhere near 70C at load, even in summer indoor ambient temps.

I get about 28-33C on idle.
