With neweggs deals right now there the same price which would be better the newer one or the one thats already proven to be good and reliable?

If it is for a new build, I would go with the Haswell i5 4670K. It ensures you can upgrade later on when Broadwell is released in the future as it uses the same LGA 1150 socket.

i5 3570K is proven good, but on a platform that will see no further releases, LGA 1155.

Future proofing is the best way to go with a new build.

The heat just has me worried 🙁 everyone says it runs hot and im gonna be using this pc alot ofor gaming like hours a day im scared it might die on me. Would it be safe for long gaming?

Why would you say change the OS

With that cooler and the size of your case, with 3 fans, cooling shouldn't be an issue.

PSU checks out too: http://techreport.com/review/24897/the-big-haswell-psu-compatibility-list

Look at the 7870's that are based off the Tahiti boards (usually say XT or LE in the name). You can get one for around $250 usually. PowerColor and Sapphire make them for sure, not sure of what other brands offer them.

I game with Windows 8 and have had no issues at all, but to each there own.

PC-Girl, I found this great 4670k combo. You would need to buy an SSD if you want it (but you don't need it).

This will save you some money.

The reason for the suggestion to ditch the OS is Windows 8 was made with tablet and touch screen devices in mind. I personally do not have a preference as Windows 8 is actually a solid OS just be prepared for a learning curve.

I hear there is apps you can download to make 8 like 7 tho by giving ti a start button and stuff an di hear the OEM version of windows 8 is more user freindly they allow you to upgrade your mobo or other parts and reuse the OEm as long as its the same pc unlike OEM of 7 if you upgrade anything you have to reby the OS

A future update to Windows 8 (8.1) is actually going to bring back the Start button. I have PCs with Windows 7, 8 and Ubuntu. All of them are good operating systems that utilize the hardware well. The reason why productivity users and (some) gamers hate Windows 8 is because of Metro UI. Metro is actually nice if you would like to customize your startup.

If you aren't afraid to customize, configure, and explore Windows options then definitely go for Windows 8. If you just want a PC that boots right to a desktop and want to quick fire up your game with no frills then stick with Windows 7.

im fine with windows 8 from vids and stuff iv seen of it it dosent seem bad to me i like how the windows and all look in it

Awesome! What games are you looking to play with this PC?

SKYRIM!!!! and the elderscrolls online when it comes out, some shooters like battlefield and calll of duty crysis and rpgs like assasians creep tombraider batman maybe some mmos like guild wars leage of legends.

other then gameing i plan to be doing like basic internet stuff like web browsing and youtube lol

Skyrim is a CPU intensive game and a GREAT GAME at that.

I would recommend the haswell processor over the AMD. The 7870 can run all those games on max settings.

Although I am sure you would be satisfied with either build as both are nice.

Sapphire reliable? as far as gpus go?

I don't remember ever using Sapphire but it did get good customer reviews. I wouldn't hesitate to buy Sapphire especially if you are buying from newegg as they are great with returns. You probably won't have an issue with that card.

the 7950 saphire is only 30 bucks more then the 7870 asus (i was realy wanting to get a asus i hear there realy good and they have awesome rateings on new egg and a 3 year warrynty and match my red and black theme lol) but the saphire 7950 is a higher card and alot cheaper then the asus 7950 but the saphire one only has a 2 year warrynty

Your information of windows 7 OEM is false. I've upgraded my own tower with 7 OEM and haven't had to reinstall or buy the OEM

im just repeating what i heard, im fully aware alot of wrong information is floating around but basicly i was told if u upgrade your mobo with older oem systems u had to rebuy windows oems are attached tot he mobo but with windows 8 there more lenient and let u still reinstall the oem on windows 8

I just want you to know my latest build does include a Sapphire Radeon video card (7770) and it has been running great so far.

Hope all goes well as you make your build.

Have you put together a pc before?
