How is it going to work?
Will you be able to have your system anywhere in the room or will it use
line of site (RF or IR)? What do you expect the range to be (how powerful)?

I wonder if it will cause a problem if you have 2 - 360's in the same, or
adjoining rooms, with inteference with one anothers reception.

How do you think the batteries will work?
Will it use standard batteries (this could get expensive QUICK) or will it
have a rechargable battery pack like a cordless phone?

How much will the battery pack add to the weight of the controller?
I am assuming the headset (for LIVE) will be wireless as well.
Will 2 people be able to use their headsets if they jump on Live using 1
system?

I'm not too crazy about the wireless idea.
To me it has possible headache written all over it.

i am missing the days of the gaming console sprawled out on the floor
in front of the television with wires, games, and controllers
everywhere... and the wondrous RF Modulator to make it all good.

Well i can answer one part - the controller is chargeable via the USB
ports on the Xbox 360.

Hopefully the controllers will be fully useable when plugged into the USB
ports. However, like Boody Bandit, I'm not thrilled about the prospect of
wireless controllers. Heck, I'm not a fan of wireless anything unless it's
remote controls for my TV or DVD player.

so leave it wired.

Well, here's a few reasons why I like the idea.

-The console can be placed just about anywhere (behind glass or even
somewhere above the TV) without the controller wires carelessly dangling
down.

-The controllers can easily be placed in a drawer out of site, or in the
armrest of a recliner for easy access.

-My (2 small) kids wont be tempted to tangle the cords up into a gigantic
mess (3 consoles x 4 controllers).

-I've been using the Wavebird controller without difficulty for almost 2
years now. Even though it doesn't use up the batteries as much as the Xbox
360 will. I'm sure it won't be as bad as people think. Also, weight isn't
an issue.

Yeah, I know these reasons don't apply to everyone, but I think it'll be
fine just the same. The peasants will adapt quite well I'm convinced.

RF, and uses frequency hopping to minimize interference effects.

AA batteries; can use rechargeable batteries; can recharge the
controller itself (no need for separate recharrger).

>How much will the battery pack add to the weight of the controller?

Supposedly still weighs less than Controller S.

>I am assuming the headset (for LIVE) will be wireless as well.

Live headset attaches to bottom of new controller.

This is all from memory of what Team XBox wrote up.

If it works anything like the Nintendo Wavebird, the answer is damn near
flawlessly.

RF.

As big as the biggest living room.

I'd guess there are several channels for the console to choose from when
cinnecting to the controllers.

> How do you think the batteries will work?

Erm, by powering the controller? (which will have rumble btw, unlike
Wavebird.)

Rechargable.

> How much will the battery pack add to the weight of the controller?

They said during tonight's briefing that the wireless 360 controller weighs
less than the wired Controller S.

> I am assuming the headset (for LIVE) will be wireless as well.

Yep, plugs right into the controller.

Don't see why not.

I think it's about time. Nintendo (and Logitech etc.) have proven the
technology is mature enough. Xbox 360 and PS3 will have wireless
controllers, and most likely Revolution as well. But both Xbox 360 and PS3
can accept wired controllers too.

Wireless controllers, from my experience, only add to the pleasure of gaming
on the couch. Any hassle of recharging the controller overnight is mitigated
by the ability to walk from one chair to another without having to pause the
game or babysit the cords. I agree with the other person with the analogy to
the wireless phone - you just place it in recharge mode whenever you're not
going to be using it for a few hours. I suspect it'll be a non issue. And if
you love cords, go ahead and keep it tethered in.

I just hope there is a wired option. I *HATE* wireless controllers.
Having to replace batteries is enough of a reason for me to stay far,
far away. Add the problems with response time and interference make me
refuse to use a wireless controller.
