Hi Guys,

I'm a little out of the PC Hardware stuff at the minute due to work, I've just ordered a Ryzen 7 3700x off amazon and I'm looking for a mobo and RAM to go with it, Im upgrading from an I7 3700k so I need new RAM as im currently on DDR3.

I have been looking at a B450 board as the 570x's are a little out of my budget.

I have been looking at the: TUF B450-PLUS GAMING (SOCKET AM4) DDR4 ATX MOTHERBOARD

Any thoughts or help would be great! :)

Thanks!

Hello, i dont want to hijack your thread but dont want to overflood forum with similar questions either. Thought i might as well ask here?
The decision to buy 3700x is made, i already have RAM kit, AM4 compatible cooler and everything else. Only one thing left to get is motherboard within 200 dollar bracket.
The most attractive option from X570 line-up i see right now available is ASUS X570-plus TUF gaming. The VRM on it looks overkill, i dont care about audio since i use separate dac\amp, realtek lan i am not sure if it's noticeably worse than intel or not but what i care about if i can at least to some extent control this ugly chipset fan, or can i control case fan speed with different sensors? There is X570 Aorus Elite board for the...

With that motherboard you will need an older AMD CPU so you can update the BIOS to the newest version which supports the 3000 series CPU's.
AMD does offer loaner CPU's to use for tha tpurpose though:
Read the Short Term Processor Loan Boot Kit section on this page:
https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/pa-100

That shouldn't be a problem my friend has a first gen CPU I should be able to borrow :) Here is the exact board i was looking at https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...ocket-am4-ddr4-atx-motherboard-mb-6cd-as.html

The only thing I'm worried about is the RAM compatibility
  • RAM:
    4x DDR4 (max. 2.933 MHz, 3.200 via OC)
    Dual-Channel
    max. 64 GB

BIOS Version 1201 and 1607 support 3000 series CPU's.
https://www.asus.com/News/EtaH71Hbjuio1arV
You can get them here:

I have No idea how buggy those BIOS versions are though.
Pretty much all of the 3000 series BIOS versions from every MB manufacturer has bugs at this point and it may take a month or more before they get them all fixed.

What are your thoughts on this board? Better supported RAM?

There is X570 Aorus Elite board for the same price that does mention on product page such fan control feature, but not available in a place i want to get CPU in and the delivery will be more expensive if i buy things separately.
