What style of gaming are you interested in? All-else equal, any CPU upgrade mostly helps e-sports type games played at low settings and resolutions for absolutely highest fps. So even then, IMO the few fps improvement you'll see on that upgrade simply isn't worth it and that's even though it's one of the top gaming CPU's. But then some people swear that FPS is what wins at the top levels in that kind of play...something for you to decide
Triple-A games played at 1440p-4k and high settings will lean almost entirely on the GPU. You'd need to be going to one of the newly launch GPU's (4080/4090 or maybe 7900XT/X) to see meaningful improvement from a CPU in that kind of gaming.
