Title says it all. Trying to get 4 or 5 more years out of this system. Gig x570 MB 32 mb of 3600 mem and a 1 terra pci 4 M2. Currently has a 2080 gpu looking at a 3080ti.

What style of gaming are you interested in? All-else equal, any CPU upgrade mostly helps e-sports type games played at low settings and resolutions for absolutely highest fps. So even then, IMO the few fps improvement you'll see on that upgrade simply isn't worth it and that's even though it's one of the top gaming CPU's. But then some people swear that FPS is what wins at the top levels in that kind of play...something for you to decide

Triple-A games played at 1440p-4k and high settings will lean almost entirely on the GPU. You'd need to be going to one of the newly launch GPU's (4080/4090 or maybe 7900XT/X) to see meaningful improvement from a CPU in that kind of gaming.

I’d say if you’ve got the cash go for it. You may not see as big of an uplift as you think, but you should see an uplift. Also you can probably resell the 3700x. It appears 100-130 on eBay is what they are selling for. If you can get the 5800x3d for say 340, that makes the cpu a 200 dollar upgrade. You could also pick up the 5700x for a decent uplift for less money. Definitely good options.
