Upgrading my Dell XPS 8500. I'd like to get opinions for moving up to an i5-9600K. Not the latest and greatest chip, but for the price it seems like a smart purchase. What motherboard and Memory would you all suggest?

Try to find a compatible motherboard on pcpartpicker and find the ram slot like DDR4 or something and get around 8-16 gigs of ram because thats what most games need nowadays

Thank you for that list of items, definitely save me some time shopping. I've read where I'll have to get a new copy of Windows 10 because of the new motherboard. Any work around for using the Win 10 O.S. I have now?

I know this isn’t what you asked but I see no reason to pick the i5 9600k over the Ryzen 3600. When you factor in needing to buy a cooler for the 9600k then the 3700X with stock cooler (which is decent) should cost only a little more and is a big step up.

Thanks, I just bought a new fan for my cpu, the Dell oem was so loud and whiny. Hopefully the cooler would fit the 9600K.
I read where technology isn't quite there yet on realizing the speed potential of the new PCEi 4.0 on the AMD boards which kind of had me thinking of the AMD route in the first place.
