Hi,

I have a 3770K system and wanted to check what voltages are good for running at 4GHz (4-cores).

Currently, my frequencies are set as follows:

1 core - 4.2GHz
2 cores - 4.2GHz
3 cores - 4.1GHz
4 cores - 4.0GHz

And I am running at a fixed voltage of 1.090V. Motherboard is Asus P8Z77-V Pro. LLC set to medium. Current capability set to 130%.

Previously, I am able to run at 1.080V with LLC set to Auto which I think goes to a high value. Until I learnt the ill effects of LLC. I still get random BSODs in both scenarios but Intel Burn Test works well for some reason. Will CPUs degrade by needing a higher voltage with the same frequency over time?

Will appreciate any advise. Thank you.

Solution
how much voltage you'll need @ "x" speed just depends on your chip.

however, most ivy bridge chips should hit 4.0GHz on auto voltage. up to 4.2GHz i don't think you'll need to touch CPU voltages at all.

anything above 4.2GHz, it's generally thought that CPU voltage will need a slight raise but, your chip may or may not need it.

Thanks for replying.

One new thing I noticed is that, on some days, for example, 1.08V/1.09V is just fine for running more than 24hours. However, sometimes when a BSOD occurs, it can keep on happening till I cannot have a stable boot, forcing me to up the voltage. Currently running at 1.10V now.

I am also interested what is the lowest voltages possible others are able to run on for similar frequencies. Setting on auto voltage actually puts in higher voltage than what is needed, and producing higher temps.
