I'm currently on a ASUS Prime X370-Pro with the bios version 5220 and a 1600x. Will the 3800XT be able to run on the ASUS Prime X370-Pro??

That got me thinking, for strictly gaming (1080p) and the 3800xt.

AMD Ryzen 3800xt
Asus Prime X370
GSkill 3000 16gig
RTX 2070 super

vs

AMD Ryzen 3700x
Asus Prime x570 P
GSkill 3600 32gig
RTX 2070 super

Would a faster clock speed CPU like the 3800xt (4.7 boost clock) out perform a 3700x with faster ram and a newer motherboard?

AMD Ryzen 3700x
Asus Prime X370
GSkill 3000 16gig
RTX 2070 super

I would run this setup, getting a new board and ram will not net you the FPS worth the money spent. The 3800xt has about a 4-5% gain over the 3700x or 10-15FPS more, ether one would be perfectly fine for 1080P

My secondary computer runs a
AMD Ryzen 3600x
Asus Prime x570 P
GSkill 3200 16gig
GTX 780 Ti classified

Short of the GPU holding back the computer it runs everything fine. I have swapped in my 2080 ti for testing purposes just to see what it will do.

Good points! Yea few irl friends pretty much said the same thing that buying a new mobo/ram would have been a tiny gain for fps compared to what I have already.

The 3800xt and that 4.7 boost clock will be the way for me. Can't really upgrade anything else without spending more than I would like to so atm. That 3800xt and a RTX 2070 super should be a decent gain (i'd imagine) for games like CoD.

I generally sit in the 100-140 fps range depending on the area with mid to low settings @1080p with this ryzen 1600x @3.9ghz. Hoping with a a 3800xt I could get closer to maintaining a 144 (at least raise the low end fps from 100 to 120 or more!).

Anyways, thank you for the input, much appreciated!
