Hi

This is either a graphics card, display issue (or user error) so apologies if I've posted in the wrong place...

I've just bought a monitor after MONTHS of research into my existing Graphics card and the new monitor as I didn't want to be in the exact situation I am in right now...

The specs of the monitor say it displays a max resolution of 3840 x 2160 (https://displaysolutions.samsung.com/monitor/detail/1041/U28E590#:~:text=Discover the detail of stunningly,4x greater than Full HD.)

The Graphics card specs say it can display a max resolution of 2560 x 1600 (https://www.geforce.co.uk/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt-610/specifications)

Connected via HDMI cable (but this shouldn't be the issue as HDMI connections carry 4K...?)

PROBLEM: The PC shows 1920x1080 as maximum selectable resolution.

Any help greatly appreciated!!

Well the first problem is this:

The Graphics card specs say it can display a max resolution of 2560 x 1600 (https://www.geforce.co.uk/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt-610/specifications)

So 4K is out of the picture period. The second problem is what that HDMI port supports. I'm going to wager because the GT 610 is a low-end card and given its time of release, the HDMI port is of a version that only has enough bandwidth for 1920x1080 @ 60Hz (maybe up to 1920x1200).

EDIT: If you want to use a higher resolution and your card has a DisplayPort connector, use that instead of HDMI. If it only has Dual-Link DVI, you need to get a Dual Link DVI to DisplayPort adapter.

Maybe your monitor cannot accept 2560 x1440.
If it doesn't show up as an option in Windows then that'd be why.

Thanks for the reply, that's a sound suggestion, but, as per the original post:

"The specs of the monitor say it displays a max resolution of 3840 x 2160..."

Thanks again in advance for any further help.
