Hey Guys,

So long story short I was not planning to upgrade my system until Haswell in 2013 but through work I am able to get my hands on an 3930k for under 200. So I was wondering what would you guys do in my position with windows 8 coming out. My comp usage is for gaming, internet surfing and fl studio only. PS Im getting an SDD with windows 8

Option (1) - do nothing until Haswell

My current Setup:

CPU: i7 920 @3.3GHZ
MOBO: EVGA x68 SLI Micro
RAM: GSKill 6GB @1800Mhz
GPU: GTX 570 EVGA Superclocked (Be the same for all builds)

Option (2) - 3930k (Sandy Bridge E)

CPU: i7 3930k
MOBO: ASROCK Exteme4 http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/X79%20Extreme4/
RAM: Cosair Dom 16GB @ 2100MHZ http://ncix.com/products/?sku=65619&vpn=CMT16GX3M4X2133C9&manufacture=Others Total Cost $715

Option (3) - 3770k (Ivy bridge) - Do this option in the fall

CPU: i7 3770k
MOBO: open to any suggestions (200-300)
RAM: Cosair Dom GT 8GB @2000MHz http://ncix.com/products/?sku=56253&vpn=CMT8GX3M2A2000C9&manufacture=Corsair Total Cost around $860 currently

Thanks for any input.

with this in mind and if your going to be overclocking obviously the 3930k is OP for almost all games stock. the 3770k should be OP for all but maybe arma3 as it requires a hefty system to begin with. ( :( sadly i wont be able to play Arma 3 without an upgrade.) Obviously haswell should be on par with the 3930k's 6 cores if not better with a quad. so ultimately its your decision but if you can get the 3930k i would snag it even if you only resell it for more... under 200 with a avg buyout used about 500 would be 100 profit ... but anyway you should be ok for all the games you listed with your current rig unless your have the itch to upgrade and if so i would go either 3930k or wait for haswell and dec it out.

the 3770k is only about 5ish% faster then sandy bridge and only about 30ish% faster then 920

here is a 3770 compared to your cpu
