Recently I bought a new computer, but in pieces to mount it, at the end of the contruction, i was surprised whit 3 beeps(1 large 2 short),after researching about it, i was thinks it could be my video card, or maybe my ddr4 ram.
Here is my setup:

XFX RX580 8gb
Ryzen 5 1400
MSI B350 Tomahawk motherboard
Corsair CX 600 power supply
Ballistix Sport 1x8gb DDR4 RAM 2400
1TB WD HD (empty)

im dont now barelly nothing but i can tell that:
Power supply works, Motherboard leds works, ryzen 5 coller works.

i think with that ryzen 5 i cant see no video without a gpu, so if i need any drivers what im supposed to do ?
obs:i have an old GT660 can it help ?
obs2:can xfx rx580 work on a intel core 2 duo cpu E8400 ?

Solution
Hey,
I'm looking up the MANUAL, however you should know that AMD Ryzen CPU's can lose a lot of performance without sufficient DDR4 bandwidth. You lose up to 15% or so (depending on the game, resolution etc) going from 2400MHz Dual Channel to 3200MHz Dual Channel.

However, you are at 2400MHz Single Channel which is HALF the bandwidth that Dual Channel has.

I would have suggested 2x4GB 3200MHz or similar, then get another identical 2x4GB kit but as for now my best advice is:

*Get another, IDENTICAL, 8GB stick then look a the motherboard MANUAL for how to setup Dual Channel (which of the four slots to use).

Then use MEMTEST86 to test the memory www.memtest86.com

(now back to the beep codes)
Hello!

I'd definitely try the RX 580 on another computer to check if everything is okay. If it works on another computer (like your E8400 machine, please make sure the power supply in the E8400 can handle the card in the first place), try resetting the BIOS on the Ryzen machine and try again. If nothing works, try resitting the RAM on another slot.

I tryed rx580 on E8400 with the new power supply, and it didnt work 🙁 ram on another others 4 slots too. Does rx580 need no drivers to work the first time ?

If the other graphics card you said you have (GTX 660?) works:

Try placing the GTX 660 you mentioned having (with the new power supply) in the Ryzen computer, plug everything in and see if it boots. See if it still beeps.

PS: Components don't need drivers to post, if the computer isn't showing anything on the screen, its definitely hardware or bios related, drivers only matter when you use Windows/Linux, etc.

Solution
Memory is (left to right): A1, A2, B1, B2

For one stick you use A2 (2nd one)

For two sticks you use A2, B2

BEEP CODES: "If 1 long 2 short beeps are heard, remove and reinstall the graphics card and then restart the computer. "

And no, a video card does NOT need drivers to be installed first. Those beeps happen before Windows anyway I would assume.

I suspect your GTX660 will work in the new computer (if no other issues), and if so I would use that to build the PC for now then RMA the RX-580.

I place gtx 660 in the ryzen, and it boots... so whats the problem with my rx580 ?

Thank you for the advices !

It could be a bad card. Take it back to the store and explain what happened, they will take care of your situation and hopefully you'll either end up with a repaired card or a brand new card in box.

Make sure you put everything back in the box including manuals, plastics, covers, anything.

Best of luck!

ok, now there is a problem, i bought this card in the USA, but i live in Brazil, and on the travel I could not bring the box with manuals, just the cart... so now, any solution ?

I can understand where you're coming from.. The best idea to be very honest with you is contacting the manufacturer directly, see if you can handle the RMA through them instead of the retailer, don't need to explain the situation about what happened with you buying it in another country, just try and talk to them first.

I dont even have my receipt from best buy... i think i cant do anything with RMA. Can i fix it otherway ?

What I meant was, talk to the manufacturer directly, as in, if its a XFX card, talk to XFX customer support, if its a MSI card, talk to MSI about it, not best buy.

Receipt isn't important when handling with the manufacturer I don't think, they just need the Serial Number.

You not having the original packaging might make things complicated however.. Talk to them, only way to find out at this point.

I'd say the XFX card is defective as I can't think of what else it could be.

The only way it could be POWER related is if you failed to attach the power cables to the card.

Since the GTX660 worked it proves the motherboard, power supply etc all works. So basically you swapped one part for another and one works one doesn't thus a bad graphics card.

(it would still be best to test the card on another working system if possible in case there's some weird glitch I haven't though of. Legacy/UEFI conflict? I doubt it but I don't know everything)

As per WARRANTY though, I'm at the USA/Canada link and it talks about the Warranty not applying to cards purchased outside the area:
http://www.xfxforce.com/en-us/support/xfx-warranty

So it seems to be region specific thus I'm not sure of the procedure. I guess you can ask, but in my dealings with various companies I think they may try to stick to telling you that you need to be in North America to qualify.

If so, can you send the card to a friend then have them RMA for you then return the card?

Try to see how far you get by starting with either the Brazil XFX site (Asia-Pacific??) or North America's site but again not sure how that will go. For example, if you manage to SHIP the card to them will they look at the RETURN address and decide they won't do it?

Will they offer to do it for an extra fee? I have no idea, but I doubt it as most companies now are pretty strict since they outsource tech support to people who sometimes don't even speak the same language.

Situation with shipping things in Brazil is very complicated, I wouldn't be surprised if he is forced to pay tax over an item being sent to be repaired and their mailing system is very slow, sometimes taking up to 40-50 working days to ship something from outside of the country and its not very rare items getting stolen or just straight up being lost.

With that said, hopefully its not the card and its something else, as you've suggested, possibly a bad connection? But he tried it in another computer and it didn't give signs of life, so I doubt it.
