Are there any good first person games that are suitable for children?

How about a doom/quake mod that involves a snowball or food fight?

Does anyone in this group have children? I think this is a big opportunity
for ID.

Years ago Chex ran a promotion featuring their breakfast cereal in a Doom
format. I am not making this up! I no longer remember any of the specifics,
but all the violence was more completely sugar coated than Fruit Loops.

Sounds good. Why doesn't ID sell something like this using the Quake 3 or
Doom 3 engine? I think they'd sell a ton of them.

not quake or doom, but a couple of years ago there was "nerf arenablast"
based on the original unreal tournament engine - review at:
http://www.avault.com/reviews/review_temp.asp?game=nerf
played a map or two off a demo disc at the time and had pretty good bots
as you'd expect from UT - a bit lame but ok for kids, not sure how
you'd get hold of it now though......

Very old, and they use Wolfenstein-3D style engines, but two
I remember off hand are

Nightmare 3d: (google search for the demo) and

Ken's Labrynth: http://advsys.net/ken/klab.htm
He also have a free Build engine-based game
with is more advanced than the above two, that
includes moving subways and mirrors. check out

http://advsys.net/ken/buildsrc/default.htm

Oh, remember to download "DOS4GW.EXE" which is
available at

http://advsys.net/ken/utils.htm#dos4gw

and unzip it in the same directory (folder) that "KENBUILD"
is installed (unzipped) in. This is required to run that game.

If you want Chex Quest, go to http://www.the-underdogs.org where you
can download the game for free, instead of paying for a site that has
in fact ripped off much of Underdogs hard work.
