And for an active 3d screen you could not use the passive glasses (ie the cheap ones or the ones you can get at the cinema)
Hey
I have an D2343P-BN 23 LED 3D 1920x1080 VGA Black - LG CINEMA 3D Monitor D43 Series, which is a screen that plays both 3d formats, and does the whole 2d to 3d conversion thing. And yeah its pretty good at what it does though i seem to be using it less and less lately.

To play 3d games and watch 3 films you will need a 3d monitor unless you are talkinjg about the red/ blue 3d that children use. There are other programmes such as Tri-Def 3D that will convert games to 3d etc but with this monitor it can do it passively.

Overall, however i would think if you want to watch 3d films etc then you need a big screen for it to be really good. I love my monitor and the picture quality is great, just needed a larger size for the 3d to have even more impact thats all.

Unless your monitor specifies it is 3D then no it wont play 3D films.

Forgot to add, as a general rule, active 3D tends to be better than Passive 3D, the above monitor is passive but is still very good. Active tends to be more expensive.

I would absolutely recommend the Asus VG278H for 3D gaming. Not horribly expensive, pretty decent quality and it does Lightboost, which makes a big difference darkness wise. Keep in mind that this is an active 3D screen, meaning you will want the Nvidia 3D kit.

well i have a vg278he but what did you mean by active 3d screen ? so i can only use nvidia kit for 3D glasses ? can i use normal and non expensive 3d glasses ?

what about nvidia 3d vision 1 ? can i use that ? or does it have to be nvidia 3d vision 2 ? because i heard the first one doesnt support lightboost either

and is ASus vg278HE an active 3D too ? or only asus vg278H is active 3d ?

Both monitors are active 3D. Looking into it, the 3d Vision 2 is meant to be better as there is much less crosstalk than the vision 1s. While the vision 2s have lightboost, apparently the difference is very little anyway in brightness so i wouldnt worry about that.

However, the larger lense size makes the vision 2s the ones you should get.
