Hi guys,

A friend has a setup with i5-750@3,8ghz ,16gb ram and one 7970 and wants to get a new monitor. His original idea was to get a 3d monitor around 300-500 cause so far he was playing on a 3dtv (active) and for some games he was using tridef software, because he has amd. However, I told him that in that range he might consider to forgo 3d (AAA games require a greater amount of horsepower to get 3d at very high settings as he would use with simple 1920x1080) for a bigger monitor with higher than fullHD resolution. What do you think, do you have any other suggestion?

Thanks in advance

i tired 3d on my pc on a 1080p 60" tv, it drains the gpu power a LOT and found myself turning down detail settings quite a bit to get some games playable. It also added some sluggish control input. It also didn't work real well on a lot of games, just blurry. I would go for the larger/higher res screen over 3d. You also really need a large screen to get a real good 3d effect, it doesn't work well on small screens.

You all make valid points, the only games we ever enjoyed playing in 3dtv were simple ones, using an xbox controller, like the walking dead, trine 2 and setting the resolution @ 720p because the 24 frames limit and laggish mouse controls are awful.
Now another question, so as not to create a new thread, what would you choose for gaming >1080p and in the 350-400 range (euros)?
Thanks for the answers.
