3dmark 2001/2005 instability but cpu intensive works fine

So I have this rig I clocked up to 3.4 ghz and 3dmark typically only those two versions I might add are unstable. 3dmark 2001 locks up on the envirment bump mapping test and I have to restart using the reset. Also 3dmark 2005 will restart the system or just crash out right. But get this 3dmark 2006 runs perfectly fine and so does 2003.

The card itself is not over clocked only a high clock on the e6300. I took away the ram over clock and it still did it. I set everything to stock speed and all tests work fine.

Here are my specs voltages and temps from nvidia monitor.

yes. i have read that it has solved some instability issues with graphics cards when o.cing.

This is weird but under the voltages in the monitor, it says
fsb,
ht (spp-mcp,
pci-e, nforce,
aux

But under the motherboards setting it only has these to adjust with no outright pcie labeled within ntune software application:

fsb
ht nforce spp<->mcp
nofrce spp
nforce mcp
auxiliary

Under motherboard the voltage settings are:
cpu core voltage
memory voltage
nforce mcp voltage
cpu fsb voltage
nforce spp voltage
ht nforce spp<_> mcp

All those are set to auto except for cpu core voltage.

So which one of those will be for the primary pcie bus since it is not labeled that? Why can't they just call it pcie bus or does it simply not have an ability to adjust it? I would hope it would.
 
i would think the best way would be through the bios. on your board i do not know how to do it though. my gigabyte board does have a pcie voltage setting.

I recommend you set your FSB coreclock back to 400MHz! Syncronize your memory @ 400MHz (800DDR) also.
Running your memory slower, using a reducing ratio, is just silly. 😱
Overclocking is kinda like getting a coupla tattoos - Ink Fever takes a hold of you and you find it difficult to stop, heheh...
So no offense, you've proved it will do 478 - now go back to 400.
If your memory is not clocked at least equal to your CPU, your memory bandwidth will not equal the CPU bandwidth and is inadequate!
Using default numbers (@ 266 FSB coreclock and memory) the CPU provides 8.4GB/s bandwidth. The memory @ DDR533 provides 4.2GB/s which is why they call it PC2-4200, right?
4.2GB/s in 128-bit (dual-channel) mode = 8.4GB/s, precisely matching the CPU.
You can exceed the CPU bandwidth by running memory faster, but clocking below CPU is bottlenecking the CPU bandwidth and therefore performance (and possibly stability).
Hey I think it's an excellent OC 8O but try to reduce CPU and synchronize memory, see if your problems disappear...

So I clocked down the fsb speed and i am now running at 2950. That runs everything fine and stable. So I guess that is good enough, the ram is still clocked at 890 ddr though and fsb is clocked at 421 or 1684 qdr.

I tried playing with the pcie voltages it was linked to the north bridge voltage. I turned it up to 1.45 then went slowly down to 1.30 and it didn't help at all. at 1.30 it seemed to be ok but then it wansn't so, dunno.

So I guess it was just clocked too high, I will have to clock it up slowly now. the motherboard I have has auto voltage settings as you up the speeds so I just the board do its job.

If your FSB coreclock is 421 your memory should be 842DDR (1:1 synchronous).
Concentrate on reducing the RAM voltage and tightening the timings, instead of pushing for higher (asynchronous) RAM speed...

As for as lowering voltage for the ram, the ram is rated for 2.1 volts, is there a timings for ram 101 I can read up on?
