Hello,

Here is my current build:
- Intel Core i5-8600k
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti
- ASUS TUF Z370 Motherboard (BIOS Version 0605)
- 16 GB DDR4 SDRAM (Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB x 2)
- Sandisk 240 GB SSD
- Toshiba 1TB HDD
- Western Digital 1TB HDD
- Windows 10 Education (Build 1709)

The issue I am having with this build is that every time I attempt to run the 3DMark Fire Strike benchmark, all of the graphics tests perform pretty well (19,000 points), but when I run the Physics test, I get a score of around 12,000-13,000, which is pretty low for this CPU. I get about a 16,000 overall score on the Fire Strike benchmark.

My friend, on the other hand, who has an i7-7800X, can run the physics test with a score of 17,200+ points. He is stating that my processor should beat his processor in the physics test, due to his 7800X having mesh architecture and my 8600K having a ring architecture.

Here is the link to my highest benchmark: https://www.3dmark.com/fs/14541274

This is the comparison between me and my friend's benchmarks: https://www.3dmark.com/compare/fs/13354010/fs/14541274

The CPU does not throttle during the physics test. I will have to run the test one more time to see what the temps are during the tests if you guys are wondering about my temps.

I believe that the case is that the current Windows 10 build (1709) is causing the CPU to somehow not run to it's full advantage, especially during Fire Strike.

Update (12/31/2017 - 0:06): I have just changed in BIOS the CPU Core Ratio to Sync All Cores, then set the ratio limit to 43. I have ran Fire Strike once again with these settings, and had gotten a Physics test result of 13,717.

Here is the updated benchmark results: https://www.3dmark.com/fs/14568818

Any ideas?

I'm not sure what you're saying here. First you say physics test, then you say graphics test. If you meant physics test the 7800X will win every time because it has hyper-threading.

Other than that everything looks normal to me in the tests.

My bad, I meant the Physics test. I will update the question with that. My friend told me that the Fire Strike test does not use logical cores, at least to his knowledge. Do you know if the Fire Strike test does use logical cores as opposed to just physical cores (as my friend assumes)?

What you're saying seems to make sense. I will have to do more research on whether Fire Strike uses physical or logical cores to base it's physics scores off of. I believe that it is based off of logical cores, my friend still is convinced that it uses just physical cores. I just have to get a definite answer from someone who is familiar with Fire Strike's development, even if I contact Futuremark themselves.

Other than that, thank you for your help! I'll update this thread whether I find out what answer to this question is.
