3DMARK score to low??

look at my specs.. i got a e6300 stock 1.86ghz with tuniq tower 120 (idles at 16-19 celcius, just waiting to be fired up). 2gb corsair dominator 800mhz, 7200rpm sataII, 8800gts 640mb, asus 680i, i got a 7.5k 3dmark 06.. seems kinda low? i also run vista home premium.... any advice?

ALSO with the same system i am only getting 45fps in fear. i m playing at 4x/16x at 1024 x 764 x 32??? wtf is that resolution. i got a 1264x1024 res crt but fear isnt showing that res so i play at 1024x 764 with everything maxed on my gts and only getting 45fps?? does that sound rite?? sometimes it even drops into the lower 20's

that doesnt sound right...make sure that all of your drivers are updated and installed correctly. also, what kind of power supply do you have? if you dont have enough power to the card, it will not perform up to par.

My thoughts are that at least some of the blame is on Vista. The video drivers for Vista are still in a pretty primitive state, and aren't that great performance wise.

Ok, try something for me here. Pump up the resolution on FEAR. I mean, max it out (do whatever your monitor can do.) Do max AA/AF. Then, tell me what the FPS numbers are. If they are the same/close to the same, then the processor is actually being the limiting factor.

Also, make sure that your ram is running in dual channel mode. I know, that seems like a stupid mistake to make, but it does happen. Open up CPU-Z and see what it says about your ram.

yah i think your right.. cause i was running at 1.86 ghz getting about 30 fps.. when i overclocked to 2.6ghz i was getting 80-150 fps... must of been my core 2 at 1.86 limiting me??

yah i think my cpu was limiting me. its clocked at 1.86. i overclocked it to 2.6ghz and i got abotu 50-150fps in fear with everything maxed.. with it at 1.86 ghz i dont see it go over 45.. it must of been the cpu limited me. the dominator is in dual channel as well. 4-4-4-12.. i m guessing the core 2 duo 6300 does bottlenect a 8800gts unless it is overclocked to 2.4+.. should i be getting more then 44fps at 1.86ghz on a core2 duo anyways??

I have a E6400 with 2gig patriot with a 8800 GTS 320megs. At stock CPU and video card speed I get 7988 on 3dmark06. Then I overclocked my cpu to 3.5ghz and overclcoked my vidcard and I got 10480 on 3dmark06. Not bad i guess. I suggest getting faster CPU.. thats your bottlenecl for your GTX.

i have a 8800gts 640mb... what kind of fps you get in fear with stock cpu speed?? anyone out there think 40fps in fear with e6300 (stock) 8800gts 640 stock is to slow on vista? any suggestiosn?

I never ran fear.. but i think your issue is your running Vista and you cpu is too slow.

overclocking my cpu helped.. also more ram would probaly help me as if i m running only a game on vista it uses 1.5gb ram!. anything else icould be missing anyone??

the score is fine. e6300 bottlenecks the card a lot. ( I had an e6300 too).
Overclock it to 2.33 (333mhz FSB) and see how many more marks that will give you.

BTW: Your CPU does not idle at 16-19, you use a wrong program for temp. readings. try TAT or CoreTemp.

Those are really odd resolutions. I don't know if you mistyped them, but the correct resolution are:

- 1280x1024 for your CRT.

- 1024x768 and 1280x960 which you can set in FEAR. (FEAR only lets you choose between 4:3 resolution ratios, so no 1280x1024, which is 5:4)

The x32 at the end means how many bits the colors are coded in. 32bit is True Color. Usually, for games, you can choose between 16 bit and 32 bit.

So, 1024x768x32 means 1024x768 resolution with 32 bit per color.
