3dmark2001 damm near made me weep brought my system to its knees and dropped 4k 3dmarks from the previous version well gues for the next generation I will need to upgrade again haha.

lol, that's the same thing I was thinking when I ran it. My score went down from 5874 to 2378, but I guess part of that difference is due to the fact that 2001 runs in default 32bit color mode while 2000 ran default in 16bit. You gotta admit though, the demo was pretty damn impressive though, especially the matrix-like scenes. They made me drool for the release of the Max Payne game. I hope that comes out soon, it has been a long wait.

I had the same score... 5800 to 2300. Ouch. But I don't like the new format. Those games just look too cool, and don't have the pure "testing" quality that I liked in 2k. I thought the truck game just stunk, and that test where all the guys shot each other was too distracting. Oh well, maybe I'm just pissed cuz my score dropped 2500 freakin' points.

Yeah, I was a bit surprised at the drop in score too, but I suppose that they had to adjust it for the vid cards that will be out later this year. The score I get now is lower than the one that I got on my voodoo3 for 3dmark2000. I suppose I shouldn't have been tightfisted and spent the extra money on a GTS instead of an mx but oh well, my games run ok for me now. Did you try running it in 16bit color yet to see what you get?

The truck game is actually a good benchmark because it tests DETAIL rather than complexity of the objects. Detail is one of the keys to realistic 3d games. Just my two sense.

That is true, it has high poly and everything but the detail is really nice. The dragon benchmark isn't too good because while it has all the poly's from the village the people aren't even up to spec with character models from last year, yet alone the year to come. 3dmark2k1 doesn't bring my pIII 500,tnt2 to it's knees, it just plain crushes it. At lest I don't drop as far as you guys do. Since it sucks already in 3dmark2k the scale of suckiness is smaller. I only loose 1300 marks. Still, it is around 960. Pretty nice isn't it?

Yes, I am buying a new system.

I hate 3dmark2001 :frown: my system runs at almost 90fps in low detail but then high detail it goes to about 30-35! 😱
