3dsmax and DDR

I've heard that DDR can be as slow as pc133, as low as 6% faster or as much as 20% faster. Will DDR improve rendering speeds (memory being fed to cpu or is that more than fast enough with pc133?) or will it improve working with geometry in 3dsmax? Although I haven't seen any benchmarks dealing with 3dsmax I don't think DDR will improve in these area's. Let me know if you can tell me I'm right or if I'm wrong.

Does anyone know? I don't want to spend money on DDR if it ins't worth the money in my situation.
