So I am building a gaming rig with a pretty high budget. The card I have picked out is the nvidia gtx 780ti. I have the ASUS VG248QE 1080p monitor picked out, as I really want that 144Hz refresh rate. I have a few questions, however. plan on eventually getting another 780ti and 2 more identical monitors, so I can use them in a 3d vision surround setup. Sounds pretty awesome to me. The other option I was considering was getting a larger high resolution screen (2560x1440/2560x1600). Maybe even a 4k screen when they go down in price. what would you say is the better deal? also, is the 780ti really worth $200 more than the 780?

Edit: another quesstion. what if I were to get the 1440p/1600p monitor, and then get 2 more? would dual 780's be able to handle gaming at that resolution on ultra settings?

thanks for your answers

Nvidia 3D surround can operate on a single 780TI or SLI. Really SLI 780TI would be needed for 4K gaming, a single 780TI is overkill for 1080p but acceptable for 1440p but any higher than that you would need SLI for full fidelity. Keep in mind that not all games support 3D surround.

Is the 780TI's premium worth it over the 780? No its is not as you can easily overclock the 780 to reach beyond the 780TI's stock performance. G-Sync is another feature that will interest you but will not work with 3D Surround and only compatible with one ASUS VG248QE panel 1080p so far.

My advice is pick up a single 780TI and a 1440p monitor, or for a little more SLI 780's+ 1440p even better performance but again SLI has some issues. Higher resolution...

as For 4k gaming I would wait for Maxwell or Pirate Islands 20nm

Thanks for the response.
and what about 3x1440p? Would SLI 780ti's be able to handle that, or is that completely out of the question? what if they were overclocked?
