4-10 FPS Please Help (CPU: Intel Core i-5 4690k / GPU: 4GB ATI Radeon R9 290)

I have been having some serious frame rate issues. I average around 4-10 fps in any game. This doesn't make any sense though, because i thought i bought all of the right parts for a decent amateur gaming rig. Any ideas??? Here are the specs:

It sounds simple, but are you plugged in to the video ports on the r9 290 or the one on your motherboard?

Wow, you were 100% right. Went from 4-10 fps to 60 fps. Bravo. I'm a little embarrassed haha but thanks
