4+4 pin 12v power connector? What's it for?

I was looking at my psi and noticed there was a cable that had two 4 pin connectors with 12v. Just wondering what it was for before I turned anything on. Can someone please help?

That is standard ATX for powering the CPU. Some boards need a 4-pin and some need 8-pin, so you would use both the 4-pins.

I visited that page but still clueless. I have an 8pin connected to cpu power but I have 4+4 12v connector that isnt connected to anything

Did you force that 8-pin in? Make sure it doesn't say "PCIE" on it.

EDIT: I'm gonna make this easier for you: use the 4+4 connector on the 8 pin connetor on the MB. This way, you can;t go wrong.

It's the cable you want to be sure of the routing for before mounting the motherboard. Usually, once the MoBo is in place it's a real PITA to get plugged in.

Some power supplies have 2 of them , it's normal sometimes.

Indeed, but since OP doesn't really know what he's doing it would be better to just use the 4+4 as you can;t go wrong like that.

Use the 4+4. That 8-pin may be for GPUs. What PSU do you have?
