I just bought a new PC which i need to put together myself, and my PSU comes with a lot of 6+2 pin power connectors, but none of them fit to make a 8 pin.

It does however feature 1x 4+4 pin power connector, where one of the 4 pins fit perfectly in half of the 8 pin socket.

The other 4 pin power connector har 4 sticks with rounded edges, but the socket has 2 complete squares and 2 rounded corners.

The connector will fit, but are the rounded edges designed to go into the squares as well?

Please help, this is my first build.

If you are referring to the 4+4 CPU power cable, that is what it is designed for. For use on a 4 pin header and an 8 pin header by putting them together. Never use the 6+2 pin connectors. They are for the gfx cards only and have their connector wired in reverse polarity from the CPU power header.

Even if the rounded corners go into the squares?

No, they should key up identical if you are using the correct cable and inserting it in the correct way. Be sure the cable's locking clip is on the side the header's locking nub is.

That 8 pin PCI-e is identical to the one on my motherboard, and the 4 pin fits perfectly into the right hand side of it.

The other 4 pin fits as well, but it has only sticks with rounded corners on it.

My PSU doesn't have the identical 8 pin PCl-e cable as the one shown on your picture, and it is not an old psu, its quite new to be honest

Connectors:

1 x Main connector (20+4Pin)
1 x 4+4 Pin ATX12V / EPS12V Your 8 pin. 😀
7 x Peripheral
8 x SATA
1 x Floppy
4 x PCI-E
