4 gb detected from 8 gb

hey guys i need help!
i have lenovo leptop with two ram slots when i bought it only one was used
i added another 4 gb ram and it made 8gb , when i turned it on in pc properties it said 4gb (3.86 available) i have speccy and it shows me 8 gb installed please tell me how to fix this or does it even need fixing

1| What is the make and model of both your ram sticks? Are they identical?
2| Have you made sure your motherboard BIOS i up to date?
3| Mind sharing the make and model of your laptop?
