4-pin and 8-pin CPU Power Connectors Questions

What are the advantages of 4-pin and 8-pin CPU power connectors?

Why do some boards have 8-pin connectors and others 4?

Is 8-pin necessary for multi-cored processors?

I am curious about this as well. I dont have a psu with the 8 pin connector. Is there some other way to power them? Is there some molex converter you can use?

You can use a 4 Pin in an 8 Pin slot, my mobo the 680I ran fine with a 4pin connection until i got the OCZ 700W which is nice since it has a split 8 pin connection (4+4) CPU connection
