4-pin connector missing.

Hello everyone. I'm building a computer, and I have the Asus Rampage IV Black Edition motherboard.
I've also gotten the Corsair AX1200i modular PSU.

Now to the issue:

My motherboard has two EATX connectors on it; one 4-pin and one 8-pin. From reading in the instructions booklets, I've understood that I'm supposed to use the cables labeld "CPU" in the EATX connectors. However the PSU doesn't have any 4 pin cables in it's assortment, only 2x 8-pin ones.
Is the 4-pin not required?

The 8-pin can usually be split into 2 x 4-pin connectors.

That's what i thought a first too, but I tried and couldn't manage to separate them, leding me to think it wasn't possible. Some fiddling with a pair of pliers later, and voila!
