Question 4 pin fan and 3 pin motherboard,fan works on full speed can i slow it down??

Hello guys i have a fan with a 4 pin connector but the motherboard supports 3 pin fans,the problem here is that when i connect my 4 pin fan to my 3 pin motherboard the fun works on full speed.Is there a way to make the fan run slower??
