4 Pin (Mobo) to 3 Pin (fan) adapters and fan Y-splitters?

Does an adapter exist that allows a mobo's 4 pin header to control a 3 pin fan via PWM?

If not, to what (if any) extent are 3 pin fans controllable when plugged into a 4-pin mobo header?

Also, what should I look for when getting y-splitters for fans? Are splitters that just split a 4-pin into 2x 4-pins okay or should I be looking at the ones that also have a supplemental Molex power connector to the PSU?

you cannot control fan speed with a 3 pin fan header...pwm function requires 4 pin.

Would splitting the 4 pin header between 2 fans damage the motherboard?

This splitter looks good, but how could I determine that the Molex would provide all the power needed for 4 fans:

The setup that I wish to configure is I have an H80i with 2 fans and 6 case fans. I'm thinking of routing the two radiator fans to the CPU and CPU_OPT headers, my 2 high performance fans to their own CHA_FAN headers and the 4 other case fans to the last CHA_FAN header via a splitter like the Akasa above. Is there any problem with this setup?

Also, 3 pin fans are totally uncontrollable?

4 pin splitter can control 2 fans via mother board with ease.

the splitter you linked will work fine...molex indeed can power lots of fans

3 pin fans are not controllable.
