Question 4 pin PSU vs 8 pin MB

So. My old PSU died so I got a new one. But this new obe doesn have the 8 pin EPS thibg. it just has a 4 pin equivalent. If i connectthat 4 pin into the motherboard 8 pin. the computer boots all fans work etc. but when i log into my windows account it just stays in a grey screen. it doesnt load the desktop... i bought an adapter but it doesnt even turns on with it. So what do I do? is t he 4 pin ,hing enough. is the windows account corrupted then? or do I have to get another adapter tht acually works? I can provide picture of everything you need.

4 pin should be enough for most hardware. Using an adapter wont do anything, so dont use them.

Whatis your old and new psu?
4 pin only seems like a very bad psu.

they only had this model in the store i bought it. the old obe says: heroichi talon active pfc 600w v2.3. The new one says: edge systems z600. so it should work? then the Windows account is corrupted. thats why it doesnt load the desktop?

Edit. my specs are corei7 2600 and graphics Radeon HD 6800. so pretty old. should work with 4 pins right? 8 gb ram
