Hi, I recently bought the following adapter in order to connect several u.2 SSD:

I currently have 2 ssd and 2 cables, I tried everything and only the first port works, the cables are ok because I switched them and tested both ssd on all cables and ports.

I resist to think that the adapter is faulty, is there something that needs to be set up on the bios to make this adapter work? where can be the mistake?

The description of the product in amazon says:" This product is not plug and play! Need machine support, BIOS , kind of complicated! "

Can anyone explain me what exactly need to be activated in the bios?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Does your motherboard support PCIE splitting? This product requires PCIE splitting to be set in the BIOS for it to work properly.

I think so.. I have an Asus rog strix x570-e: ROG Strix X570-E Gaming (https://rog.asus.com/us/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-x570-e-gaming-model/)

I find out that my motherboard supports pci-e bifurcation but only on pci ports 1 & 2: https://www.asus.com/us/support/FAQ/1037507

May it be that I have the adapter in the third pci port which does not support it? I'm going to test and see of that's the problem
I found the solution to my problem and I post it here just in case anyone is interested:

Only the first PCI port of my motherboard supports more than 1 SSD at the same time, unfortunatelly is taken by the graphic card so I can only use one port out of the 4 from the adapter... I'm dissapointed, I should have informed before buying but at least this information may be useful to someone else...

I would like to know the model of your graphics card, not all graphics cards need PCIE 16X

Another thing to add is that I read in the specs that this motherboard supports 2 PCIE 16X, and I don't think you should lose much performance by moving to the second slot.

Sorry, I provided wrong information on my last answer, my GPU is an RTX 2060 super, but I managed to make it work with the GPU in the 1st slot:
The gpu remains on slot 1, the adapter on slot 2 with bifurcation activated in the bios and the two ssd are now recognized.
So it finally works, hopefully this info is useful for someone with the same problem.

It's great that the problem is solved and I hope you have a great time.
yes fortunately is solved but I still wonder if It would be possible to connect a third and forth SSD... just in case anyone knows if the pci bifurcation on x570 rox strix gaming from asus is limited to 2 ssd on port 2 or I could connect more than 2...

It would be very useful if someone knows because I'm considering buying a third cable and ssd.
