Hey, i have a question about mixing two types of ram, i already have 2 Kingston DDR3 HyperX 1600MHz 8GB installed in two of my four slots which is about 8gb total.

But they are 9-9-9-27 1.65v and i don't want to spend more cash on getting two more of these sticks, so i wonder if my Corsair vengeance CMZ16Gx3M4A1600c9 2x 4gb's wil work in the two other slots aslwell? they are 9-9-9-24 1.5v

Always been worried about mixing since i usualy go with the same type across the board.. but my friend keeps telling me it'l work w/o issues..

My setup

ASUS maximus hero VII
Intel i7 4790k at 4.5ghz

any questions / tips much appreciated. thanks

1.5 is suggested for cpu at stock running stock (spec) DRAM 1600. I generally stick to 1.5 through 1866, 2133 and up usually call for 1.6-1.65 which is perfectly fine...Intel even certifies DRAM at 1.65, and yes it's perfectly safe
Your corsair ram will run at 9-9-9-27 1.65V to match the Kingston ram. with todays ram you shouldn't have any issues but there is always that slight chance that they wont play well together. Its only going to take 2 min to open the computer and put them in to see if they will work.

Reason why i don't use them is because i came by the veagance today at my friends house, he had to replace his current sticks because of a monster cpu cooler, they were too tall to fit under the pipes.

I have no idea about memory or how they work fully, which is why im asking here in the first place :)
Although i might just try em out as it is to see if it run or not.

you need to default everything to the highest setting

Kingston 9-9-9-27 1.65v
corsair 9-9-9-24 1.5v

which means that you will need to set all 4 sticks to 9-9-9-27 1.65v The Kingston ram will most likely not like a 9-9-9-24 1.5v setting and give you issues.
