So i jist got my second 2x8Gb g.skill 3600 cl16 kit. Ive had 16gb for 4-5 years. I have an X570 Aorus wifi and a new 5800x 3d.
With twi sticks i was able to do 3800mhz cl16, 1900 infinity fabric fine. Now ive never really messed with memory timings exceot maybe 10-15 years ago lol. Anyway. With 4 sticks i cant even post above 3600mhz. I tried a higher soc voltage at 1.15v. Memory voltage to 1.5 and nothing.
Little did i realize this cpu puts soc at 1.18v stock so i gueas ill leave that alone as im not going to hurt its memory controller. Anyway, since it boots up fine at 3600/1800 i guess thats an overclock anyway as stock is what 3200. So since i cant go higher im messing with the timings instead. There are so many im confused. But i did cl14-7-7-7-39-58 and it will boot into windows and im running cinebench 26 right now ill check with memtest36 and memtest in windows soon.
I tried to lower the 39-58 (forgot their names) but at 35-55 it wouldnt post. I tried 14-6-6-6 but no post. So so far it seems 14-7-7-7 is where im at. I guess in a way 14 at 3600 vs 3800 at cl16 is probably faster anyway.
The only issue is the dram voltage.. im at 1.45v versus g.skills 1.35v. How much dram voltage is too much ? The chips arent anything special just hynix no B die.
Qhat other memory timings do i need to mess with that actually improves oerformance. ?
