4 slots 16gb support can I use 8gb stick

Hey guys I got a new motherboard/set up for christmas all I need is ram

Now my motherboard is asus M57A8l

It supports 16gb of ram but has 4 slots in wondering if I can just use one stick of 8gb nothing els just one 8gb corsair stick rather then it being 4 4gb sticks

You can. It is more efficient to use 2 4GB sticks. Though. I would recommend purchasing a 2 X 4GB kit and installing it.

Cheers im see for anothrr 2 replies im just finding it cheaper for 1 8gb

Also the shop dont sell 2x4gb only 1x8

No from my local pc store due to shipping I only have £55

Since your motherboard is limited to a maximum of 16GB and it has four RAM slots, I would expect that each RAM slot is limited to a maximum of 4GB and that an 8GB RAM module would not work.

+1 If max is 16GB and 4 slots - it for 4x4GB unless they've don a special BIOS update, which I seriously doubt, it's seldom done
