Guys in two of my ram slots I have 2gb ddr2 which makes a total of 4gb ram.I have two slots remaining. I bought the ram sticks online it works perfect. Since I need 8gb of ram do I need to purchase the same thing again??and will it work

My PC has a max ram capacity of 8gb of ram also dual channel will it work if I buy the same sticks again or a single 4gb stick

are you running a 64 bit OS?

It is always best to buy a complete kit of RAM together. Meaning getting a full 8GB DDR2 kit as the ram syncs better. You could get away with maybe buying another kit of the exact same make of the 4 GB kit.

You can *try* a second 2x2GB kit of the same RAM you have. There is no way of knowing how nice the extra two sticks will play with the other two in dual-channel. Even with the same make and model of RAM, if they are purchased separately they are not guaranteed to work together and play nice. This is due to a host of reasons, including simple manufacturing tolerance variations. Memory is sold in 2x and 4x kits for a reason: they came from the same manufacturing cycle and are guaranteed to work together.

It's a gamble. You can try it, but if I were in that boat, and I do have a Core 2 Duo DDR2 rig, I'd seriously ponder selling those two 2GB sticks and buying two 4GB sticks in a kit. Your call. But don't be surprised if they don't play nice (read: you get random blue screen crashes and lockups).

Yes I'm having a 64bit os and I'm thinking of buying the same pair, same speed, same manufacture, from the same seller without any doubt it shud work ryt?

He should give it a shot then. I've never tried messing around with different RAM swaps in DDR2 builds, so you may be correct in more tolerance among DDR2 vs. DDR3 (and DDR4). If his store has a generous return policy to get his money back if they do not work, then he'll know. Worth the gamble IMO.
