4 terabyte external stability

I'm planning on buying a 4 terabyte external hard disk drive and I'm thinking if i'll be choosing a usb powered one or a power supply powered? what are the advantages and disadvantages of both? I will be using the external for heavy transferring of files.

Are 4tb external like western digitals(which are relatively cheaper than other brands) stable? because i've heard on some forums that some usb powered external especially those capacity more than 1TB are more prone to power shortage and overheat.

Yes, if you're moving large files then you need to get an externally powered one.
